I cannot believe I am halfway through this 8 week hallway makeover!!!! It seems like such slow progress, but the painted finishing line is in sight!
Let’s see what was accomplished this week…
- All the gaps got caulked. This has made a massive difference. All those gaps in between skirting and wall, woodwork on the stairs, where the front door meets the wall…it all looks so much now. I caulked before I primed, in case the caulking is seen through the paint.
- I primed the woodwork (stairs, door thresholds and front door) with the Zinsser Red BIN Primer. There are a lot of knots in the wood work that could, in time, discolour the paint. By priming it first, which the correct primer, it should stop this from happening.
- All that primed wood work had to be lightly sanded before painting so that it was nice and smooth. I don’t know why, but this just seemed to take AGES!! Each one of those spindles took me 8mins!!! (I did get a bad splinter in my hand so I think it slowed me up!)
- We painted the ceiling and the top half of the walls in Milk Teeth by Colourtrend. It’s so fresh and has brightened up the place already!
- The STUNNING arched mirror arrived (they had to send me another one as it had a scratch, but the customer service was unreal!) It’s such a great price at only €144 and has me really excited to add the finishing touches to this hallway makeover!
Every inch of woodwork in this room is now primed and sanded and the goal is to get ALL the painting finished by the end of this week. This includes two coats of paint on the walls, dado rail, skirting, 5 doors upstairs and the actual stairs themselves…ambitious?!
