Looking for new wallpaper ideas? Wallpaper can be the crowning glory of a room (like in our tiny bathroom) or just subtlety add a little interest (like in our bedroom)! You can even get ones that add texture to a room, like a grasscloth one! Starting out, I didn’t know I wanted a mural – I just knew I wanted wallpaper with green tones that gave a vintage-y vibe. The one I landed on was actually an older style than I initially wanted, but the trees were just so beautiful, I couldn’t leave it behind! I came across some lovely ones as I was researching, so I thought I’d share some with you here!
The mural in the bathroom was tricky to hang – everything must line up so perfectly. Mistakes were hard to hide! And because they are usually more expensive, I’d recommend using the standard rolls of wallpaper, like below, if you’re a beginner!
DIY Wallpaper Ideas
If you’re on a very tight budget, you could always make your own wallpaper – like I did in our bedroom above! It only cost the price of a sharpie! You could add stick-on decal shapes, like in our old guest bedroom. Don’t forget, you could also grab a stencil or block shapes and paint a wallpaper. However, I would be careful of this option as you’ll probably have to sand it back when you want to repaint. Or maybe grab all your old paint samples and create a mural of your own!
Wallpaper in the Bathroom
When I showed the reveal of our tiny bathroom, I had a few people ask if I was worried about hanging wallpaper there. As it’s not our main bathroom and we don’t have kids, I knew the sink area would never get too wet! But the good news is, wallpapers are absolutely an option in any bathroom, as long as the room are well ventilated! The most ideal way, would be to hang a wallpaper specifically designed for bathrooms. These are usually vinyl wallpapers. But most good quality wallpaper would be fine. However, I wouldn’t recommend having any wallpaper actually touching a sink or bath. Let’s face it, you would be asking for trouble! If you didn’t want to add a small bit of tile around these areas, you could add a clear acrylic splash-back. It would protect the wallpaper without sacrificing it’s design!
