THE WALLS ARE PAINTED AND I’M SHARING MY FAVOURITE COFFEE TABLES! IT’S WEEK 4 OF THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE!!

A walnut coffee table in front of a freshly painted green wall.

Week 4 of the One Room Challenge means that we are halfway through! Now that the painting is done though, I can relax a little! What do you think of this sneak peek???? I’ve decided to be a total tease and not show you the cabinets until the reveal!!! Do you think I painted them the same colour as the walls or the woodwork trim?

The paint is called Al Fresco and it’s the new paint brand Mood by Alchemist Paints. It was gifted to me by Carlow Paint Hub. As you know from my last update, it took me a really long time to decide on a paint colour. I really wanted to try green – it’s a little out of my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I did it! The fun stuff starts now so we can start putting things back into the room now and start unboxing everything that has arrived these past few weeks.

Our Coffee Table

One thing I couldn’t wait to unbox was the coffee table! I really wanted a real wood coffee table as it’s something that we will be looking at a lot. But I couldn’t believe the price of them! I found a gorgeous vintage one online (I’ll share it in list below) but Trevor wasn’t a fan! So, I went looking for wood veneer coffee tables, which looks the exact same as solid wood but definitely cheaper! A wood veneer is a very thin layer of wood over a cheap material like MDF or chipboard. To keep the room looking airy, we searched for coffee tables on legs. We also made sure to get one with storage this time, because there always seemed to be a mess on the shelf under our old one!

Top Tip when buying coffee tables: try to have the height of your coffee table roughly the same height as you couch seat cushion. Try not to have it higher!
