THE PREP WORK IS FINALLY COMPLETE – ORC WEEK 3

A wooden stairs filled, sanded and other prep work finished, ready for painting.

So, this blog post has been 90% written since Sunday and the week has been so crazy that it’s only today I’m getting around to posting it! So, painting has started which you don’t see in the picture above, but I’ll keep those updates for the end of week 4!

Here’s what happened last week…

The prep work finally got finished – woooo hooo!!!! That was the longest two weeks, full of nothing but filling and sanding. The woodwork on the stairs and upstairs skirting was in such bad condition that it’s still not perfect at all, but it’s way better! And even though I can be a bit of a perfectionist, I promised myself I would stop last Sunday no matter what.

A few tips I’ve learned so far…

Be prepared to refill some of the holes/dent you have already filled with wood filler. There’s a good chance that some of the wood filler would shrink, so you would still see a dent.

Get an electric sander. This is an absolute must if you are tackling large areas. It made the job so much quicker.

I have probably used this tool every 30mins since I started. It’s called RUT – which stand for Really Useful Tool and I couldn’t think of a better name! Scraping, opening tins of paint, lifting nails etc. Love it!

Check out my hallway progress so far!

So now, we are ready for painting and I’m so excited to get started on the fun stuff!!
