Oh, I am so excited to write this post! Even thinking about what’s to come this year is making me so happy! Now, I’ll be the first to admit that for the last few years my plans have been a bit too ambitious and I have yet to be productive enough to actually get them finished, but maybe 2022 is the year to change all that?! I better go and buy myself the ‘Atomic Habits’ book or something! 😉 So let’s get into these plans and let me show you what is making me so buzzed!
The Tiny Bathroom Under the Stairs
Let’s start small. This really is a tiny bathroom and a lot of the work has already been done – new woodwork, floor tiles and taps. I’ve decided to go for a wallpaper in here and perhaps a ceiling treatment, like tongue and groove cladding. Once the garden tiles have been bought (more on that next!), I’ll finish off this room!
The Back Garden
As I said in my last post, this one was on our list last year and we were really disappointed not to get it done. Our garden is a total embarrassment and if we get nothing else finished but this, I’ll be happy. We have our layout sorted, which is always the most important part. Decking has been chosen, which we are going to try and DIY. Before we can officially get the ball rolling, I need to choose the patio tiles. It’s a large space right outside the kitchen sliding door, so the colour needs to be right. I’m looking for an off-white, which seems to be hard to find as most of the tiles are grey.
I’m looking forward to a comfy outdoor couch next to an outdoor gas fire, with fairy lights hanging overhead…it would be the dream!
A Coat Closet/Kramer’s Room
There is an alcove in the dining room, next to the utility that was purpose built for a coat closet. Since Kramer (our puppy) arrived, we have been using that area to store his crate and it’s been working really well. So we’ve decided to split the alcove into two – the lower part a dog crate and pet stuff storage area and the upper part a coat closet/storage. I sketched up lots of different ideas for this closet and thought it would be a simple job. Unfortunately, the quotes from carpenters are coming back around €4000, which is waaay above budget! So I’m currently looking for tall vintage doors that we can hang there and DIY some storage inside.
Office/Music Room
The ball is in Trevor’s court for this one, as he is the only person that uses it. We made it functional last year, but this year I’d like to give it a bit of an update. I’d love hanging guitars, moody wall colour, leather office chair and better storage – but Trevor probably has a completely different idea!!! 🙂
Living Room
The biggest inside change to happen this year will be the living room. We are planning on getting built-ins on either side of the fireplace, a large vintage rug, new coffee table and a new two-seater couch. (If you can believe it, we still have the two seater couch the previous owners left behind!!) Going to get the rug first (like this one in the pic above) and base the colour scheme off that! Isn’t the living room by Studio McGee above just fab? Very excited!
So tell me, what are your plans for this year??
