Our Guestroom Reveal

Bedroom with navy feature wall with gold triangular decals.

We finished our guestroom just in time for Christmas! (Thankfully, because it absolutely got used!) We love it and it’s the first room in the house that really feels like it ours. It’s given me a little glimpse into how amazing our house could be and I cannot wait now to get properly stuck into it! 🙂 To remind you how far we’ve come here’s a little before photo…

Before

The first thing we did was paint the walls, ceiling, windowsill, trim and even the radiator in brilliant white…nothing was safe from the paintbrush!

Check out some of these posts to find out more about how I added the navy feature wall, the Ikea picture ledges and the mirrored shelves.

The Bed Makeover

My next job was to makeover the bed. The shape of the bed was very chunky so I cut off a section in the front and the bedposts at the top using a hacksaw. I bought this one in Lidl. Immediately the bed was so much more streamlined. I then sanded it all down, primed it using my trusty Zinsser primer and painted it using Dulux satinwood white with a little Colours duckegg on the headboard.

The Bedside Tables

Next, I hung two sets of Ikea lack shelves as my purse friendly bedside tables. Each shelf was only €5! They were a little tricky to hang as everything had to be perfectly level, especially as there was going to be two shelves next to each other, but I love how they have turned out!

Last Touches of the Guestroom

Lastly, it was just a case of adding all the nice bits! Ikea copper lamps match the lampshade I bought in the Range. My aunt hand-sewed this beautiful bed runner and it’s now such a special heirloom! Many people avoid polyester duvet sets but I absolutely recommend these ones from Ikea. They’re soft to touch, have a handy zipper to close and even though they can’t be placed in the tumble dryer, they dry really quickly as the material is extremely light.

Everything came together really nicely in the end, I’m delighted with it! I’m so excited to makeover our master bedroom now. You can even check out my moodboard for it here – I had it made even before revealing this guestroom…oops!!!
