Layout Plan
Last week I introduced you to the fabulous shade of yellow I’m using for the One Room Challenge. I won’t lie, this week has been as absolute disaster! I have been away for work for the last six days. So, as you can imagine, I don’t have much of an update for you! Before I left, I made out the above layout plan for where exactly the bed is going to go.
At the moment, there is a single bed in the room. It was built into the little nook where the ceiling of the stairs protrudes into the room. This was a fantastic use of space and has worked really well for a single bed. (But as our current double guest room will soon be turned into a music room, I now have to convert this single bedroom to a double) Fingers crossed during this week I can turn this layout plan into a reality and make this bed base bigger so it will hold a double bed.
The Walls
On the plus side, I did get the painting of the walls completely finished. It was dragged out a little as we had to cover up an electrical cable which was running down a corner of the room, into downstairs. (Annoying!) And we also had to remove and cover up an aerial socket that was no longer being used. You can check my story highlights on Instagram to see how I did this! I still love the paint Torc by Colourtrend. I’m currently trying to decided if it would be a bit OTT to paint the skirting and door in same colour. Or perhaps leave it white. I think I’m going to have to see how the colours in the rest of the room shape up first.
Shopping Spree
I did get a chance to do a little shopping! I’ve bought this Theana white lampshade from The Range. It’s great value and it looks like it will be pretty whether the light is turned on or off. It also ties in the pineapple shapes you can see on the duvet covers.
I also ordered the pineapple duvet covers that you can see in my moodboard. They have really good reviews, has a zipper (which I love!!!) and I think the little pops of yellow will look great against the walls. And I swear, that will be the last bit of yellow allowed in the room!!
Don’t forget to check out all the amazing featured designers doing the One Room Challenge. Like us guest participants, they also post their progress each week and the ideas/designs they create are amazing!!!
