After posting the mood board for the living room last month, a couple of people asked me to create an open plan mood board for a living room, kitchen and dining area. I’ve added white kitchen cabinets here, but really, most colours would go with this design I think! I started with the living room rug, but I think in a large space, it’s good to add in a second rug.
You can see I kept the kitchen runner pretty neutral, but the blue/grey goes well with the curtains, as well as the grey in larger rug. If two rugs are close to each other, it’s a good idea to have at least one colour the same between them, but make the patterns different. Eg. Here you can see a geometric rug with a vintage style runner, but a floral, plain or jute rug would have worked really well too!

- Living room rug: Love the pattern in this, adds a wow factor to the room! From €189. Rugs.ie
- 3 seater couch: That rust colour is gorgeous!!! I was actually considering buying this couch for our own living room, but when I sat on it in the shop, it was just a little firmer than I’d like! The shape is beautiful though! On sale for €999. EzLiving Interiors
- Lamp: This lamp has great reviews and the double arm adds a little interest! €199. M&S
- Curtains: I felt the area needed a darker colour on the curtains and as I said, it works so well with that kitchen runner! Could even go darker! €92. Next
- Dining table: From my research, a 150cm width round table should sit 6 people. The oak is stunning! €719. Woo Design
- Dining chairs: These gorgeous oak chairs would go so well with the table! I love the spindle design at the back. On sale for €179. EzLiving Interiors
- Light fixture: If you saw my Instagram stories when we were in London, you would have seen I became a little obsessed with West Elm! In Ireland, the only place to buy it is in Arnotts. I spotted this light on a great sale for €289! Arnotts
- Kitchen runner: I love a runner in a kitchen! It’s hard to add texture and warmth to a kitchen, so a rug is a great way to do that! €80. H&M
- Cake stand: The gold would go well with the light fixture and I think it’s always good that your kitchen decor is functional too! €20. H&M
- Kitchen cabinet: Two years on, our Ikea kitchen is still going strong. The white cabinets in our own kitchen are Veddinge. They are very plain so that they match with the plain black cabinets. But I think if my whole kitchen was white, I’d choose a cabinet door with more detail like the Enkoping door you see here.
- Bookcase: I imagine this walnut bookcase in either the dining area or the kitchen. The dark wood would balance out the light colours and oak used, plus it would be a great place to display cookery books, glasses or serving ware! €629. Arnotts
