This month’s mood board is a special one because it’s for my brother’s new house! It’s going to be the first proper room he tackles and I’m so excited to see this living room mood board come to life! I shared a before video on Instagram and you can see it’s a big room with lots of potential! One of the most important things though, is the budget! So you’re going to see some great deals here!

- The couch is one he’s actually getting secondhand from a friend. This one from DFS is the closet one I could find in colour.
- Thanks for helping me narrow down the rugs on my Instagram stories! (About half an hour ago!!😂) I’ve decided to go with this one, as the room is quite dark, so this should lighten up with walnut floors. €261 for the large size.
- Billy (my brother) seems to lean more towards the modern look, so these abstract posters from Desenio are perfect! The brown kinda ties in with the floors too! Poster 1 and Poster 2. I’m going to grab two of these frames from Jysk, because the price is amazing at €10.
- While the space to the right of the fireplace will have the TV, the area to the left of it needed something big (and low budget) to fill it. So we’re going to order the Ikea Vittsjo, for under €100. Two of these large baskets from Jysk will go perfectly on the bottom shelf! €30 each. I found this round table lamp in Ikea which looks like it will be very cosy at night, but still giving modern vibes. €27. The trailing faux plant is amazing value for €5.50.
- The curtains were left behind from the previous owner and we’re going to spray paint his current curtain rail black. I found similar curtains here.
- I’m going pretty modern with the mirror. I’ve been wanting to get one of these asymmetrical mirrors myself, love them! Found them for a great price from an Irish company right here! €59.95
- I bought the light fixture a while ago for another project and it’s not out of stock on Wayfair. But I found one here that is pretty much identical! Amazon £76.
- The floor lamp isn’t entirely set in stone. There are actually three options at the moment and this is one of them. It’s amazing value for €22. (The others are this one from Ikea, which I think could be really cosy, but would spray paint the metal parts to make it look more expensive. The third one is a luxury item from Dunnes, but it’s so gorgeous!)
- He’s actually getting our old coffee table, which is probably about ten years old at this stage! Good auld Ikea!!! Ikea Lack, €55!
- The large faux plant is from Marks and Spencer’s and it has hundreds of 5star reviews! €115
- The paint colour needs to be kept pretty light, with warm undertones, as the room is north facing. I’ve gone for Cromarty from Farrow and Ball and I’m going to get it colour matched to bring down the price.
I’d love to put a different colour on the ceiling, though I’m not sure what. 🤔 If you have any ideas, let me know below!! Oh and I’m also painting the fireplace the same colour as the walls. The fireplace is so ornate and traditional, so I’m hoping this will make it look a little more modern!
