I want to have a drop dead gorgeous smelling house! I did not immediately think if this when I started decorating, other than adding a few scented candles. But I’m converted – fragrance diffusers are the way to go! I had come to the end of a very pretty looking bottle of perfume and I didn’t have the heart to throw it away. So I’ve given it a bit of an upcyle and made a DIY diffuser!
I bought a refill bottle of Blue Flowers by Max Benjamin and it smells AMAZING!!! The whole range smells amazing to be honest so head into your local stockist and start sniffing out your favourite. I love that it’s made in Ireland too!
The Method
There’s not a whole lot of steps to this quick DIY diffuser. Firstly, I removed the spray pump inside. This actually took a bit more effort than I thought it would. I ended up using pliers which did scratch the cap of the bottle a little. I wanted to use that cap at the end so to cover those scratches, I spray painted them using Rust-Oleum metallic gold spray paint.
After it was dry and the cap replaced, I thought the bottle was a little boring looking. I did consider painting some of the bottle, but the glass really does look too lovely. I had some of this ribbon leftover from another project so I super-glued it around the bottom of the bottle. Finally, I also cut the reeds in half as they were looking ridiculous in the tiny bottle! (Also, love that Max Benjamin have white reeds. It’s so elegant looking!)
I’ve been moving my new diffuser around the house for the last few days and right now it’s settled in our hallway. I love walking in the front door – even if the place is in a right mess, it’s still smelling beautiful!!
