AN EASY MAKEOVER OF THE PIANO CORNER!

An oak piano with a picture ledge gallery wall above it.

We bought this piano earlier this year and it was such a good buy! We bought a light wood colour as I think with the black kitchen, a traditional black piano colour would have been too much! It’s an electric piano, which is so handy when you live in a semi-detached house because you can throw on a pair of headphones, late at night and play away to your hearts content! It actually gets used everyday, which is great, but it was time to give the area a quick and easy makeover to match the beautiful piano! I got this done in about three hours today, so it really was quick and easy!

The first thing I did was hang a picture ledge. This exact one I bought in Sostrene and Greene before the summer, but I don’t think it’s for sale anymore. But the Ikea Mosslanda picture ledge is very similiar and the larger size is only 13. I’ve used it for years here and it’s good quality!

Picture Frames

Five prints sitting on a picture ledge.

The picture frames were all from Jysk and the prints are a total mix! I’ve linked everything below, starting from the left!

  1. Artwork: Firefly Designs, old stock with a mount I already had. Frame: Tord, Jysk.
  2. Artwork: My own photograph of the sea near us. Black frame: Valter, Jysk.
  3. Artwork: Lisbon print we got on holidays. White frame: Oscar, Jysk.
  4. Artwork: Kahlo in Green 40x50cm with a 50x70cm mount. Both Desenio. Wooden frame: Tord 50x70cm, Jysk.
  5. Artwork: Digital Art by NorthPrints. Only £3.50! I printed it, on photo paper in matte, in Harvey Norman. Frame: Tord, Jysk.

Rugs

I had two jute rugs bought for this and the plan was to decide on one of them at the end. I measured for the rugs to be roughly the same length as the piano, but you might have seen on my Instagram stories that I realised it would be more practical if the rug was closer to the exterior sliding door. This now means I need a rug that is longer, so it is still symmetrical with the piano. The choices are pretty slim for the length I wanted. I also wanted the material to be dirt-resistant as it’s pretty much a doormat! I just ordered this rug. It will be arriving in two weeks and the waiting is going to kill me!!

Updating the Stool

This stool came free with the piano. (FYI: I don’t think that is the case anymore!) I looked for nicer piano stools online but to be honest there wasn’t any I absolutely loved and they cost a good bit! So instead, I bought these tea-towels and stapled one to cover the top cushion! I turned out even better than I thought it would!

The Finishing Touches

There were a few wires on show at the back of the piano. I tidied them up with some self-adhesive cable clips. I found my ones in the press and I have no idea where I got them, but these ones would do the same job and they have great reviews!

The plant stand you see was bought in Sostrene Greene. Love the colour of it!

This uplighter from Amazon looks so pretty at night! The bulb was tricky to insert, but the overall price was great at £17.56!
