Were you here before the summer when I helped my brother give his living room a makeover? Well this time, he’s turning the walk-in wardrobe in his bedroom into an ensuite! The plumbing is pretty much done, so now it gets to the part where I can help out by is putting together a mood board. Yesterday we narrowed down the paint colour and today I’ve added all those little extras to make it a bit…well extra!
The Walls and Floors
- The walls are going a gorgeous green called Green Smoke by Farrow and Ball. It’s dark and rich in colour and will bring lots of drama to this little room! The ceilings and trim are staying white to keep it from looking too dark!
- The shower – which he’s going to tile himself – is going to covered in budget-friendly bathroom tiles and to keep it from looking too boring, the grout will be dark grey in colour. I can’t wait to see how this turns out!
- The floors are already plain, pine boards. I have some Osmo oil left over from my dining table makeover and he’s going to use that to seal the boards and whiten them a little. You can see in the mood board above that there is a white diamond pattern on the boards. I haven’t fully convinced him to paint these yet, so instead I’m going to grab a roll of white, removable, matt vinyl. We’ll cut and stick the diamonds on and if he’s still not a fan, we can just take them off!
- Hanging on the wall is the Ikea Godmorgan vanity in grey. The handles will be changed to these ones (the same ones I have in my kitchen!)
- I really wanted an oval mirror here. Initially, the plan was to have two wall lights on either side of the mirror, but retrofitting them was a bit of a pain. To keep things simple, he got this mirror which lights up. I love the black rim around the edge and it’s a great price for an LED mirror.
- The second light in the room will be the ceiling light. I LOVE this brass one – it’s ordered and I can’t wait to see it in real life! Think it’s going to be gorgeous with the green walls, plus it’s such a good price at €42.95.
The Budget Friendly (But Beautiful!) Finishing Touches
- Let’s start with the artwork. I like the mix of sizes as well as a mix between an abstract print and a photo of a landscape.
- H&M always have some great options at a great price points. The dark wood on the cap of this soap dispenser is fab!
- H&M also have a massive selection of bath mats and the checkered design here is gorge! (I also really loved this one from La Redoute too!)
- Ok, the hand towel, striped and rust coloured bath towels are all from H&M too. I clearly got a little carried away there!
- And finally they are all hanging on these brass hooks from Sostrene Grene.
It always comes together with those finishing touches! You also may have noticed some wooden slats next to the shower. I have a bit of an idea for there, but not sure if there’s enough room. Hoping to visit soon and check! Plus I’ll be roped into giving the walls a coat of paint – so check my Instagram stories to follow this budget friendly bathroom makeover!
