That floor to ceiling window was crying out for a Christmas treee, but last year I couldn’t find any that was both the right size and in budget. This Christmas tree in B&Q looks soooo beautiful and I love that it’s pre-lit! It doesn’t seem to be on the website, but it’s the 6ft Olan slim, flocked Christmas tree, in case you are in the shop. Such a good price for under €60. We have our traditional, real tree in the living room, with all our sentimental ornaments. So I was excited to have a tree I could decorate from scratch!
Garlands
As the lights were already done for me, I started on the garlands. To keep costs down, I bought this box of wooden beads to make my own garlands. I made two garlands, keeping the beads natural. I was thinking of painting one of them, using some watered-down, leftover, grey paint. But I love the natural colour (for this year anyway!)
Baubles
I bought all of the baubles in The Range. It has such a pretty selection! I tried to go for a few different shapes. I also bought some dried oranges and just used some twine to hang them. I spotted today that there is now 30% off Christmas decorations in there!
Extras
I bought some velvet ribbon in Sostrene and Grene and just tied them like you would laces on a shoe. I also grabbed some battery star lights in The Range and look so pretty! You can’t have too many lights! I didn’t use the stand that came with this tree, so I filled a large jug with gravel and added some paint tins in the basket as extra weights. I covered it all with this Ikea tea-towel. (It was the other tea-towel in the pack I used for the stool makeover).
This slim, flocked Christmas tree has turned out even nicer than I imagined! I’m still waiting on the rug I ordered a while ago for in front of the piano, but hoping it will arrive before Christmas!
