THE LIVING ROOM RUG ROUND UP, PLUS THE MOOD BOARD IS COMING TO LIFE! ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 3

Paint samples next to a gold, round handle, a white and black living room rug, taupe couch cushion and a walnut coffee table leg.

So, I was supposed to have a big painting update for you, but I haven’t even 100% figured out what I’m doing with the paint yet! I have lots of samples and I have chosen a beautiful green called Al Fresco from the Alchemist Mood Paint range in Carlow Paint Hub. The problem is, I can’t decide whether to paint the walls and the new built-ins in this colour OR paint the walls in a different colour. I love the look of everything in the same colour, but should the new built-ins shine in a colour of their own?? I’ll pop a few photos here to show you some inspo I’m looking at! Hopefully there will be a true painting update by next week – or I will have pulled my hair out entirely!!!😂

What Did I Manage to Do?!

One major decision this week was the living room rug! I ordered a few and I have chosen the black and cream one you see in the picture above. It’s gorgeous! I just hope I don’t regret the cream with Kramer around!!

The good news for you is that I scoured the internet looking for all kinds of rugs for this sitting room and now I’ve gathered together TWENTY ONE (yes, 21!!) more favourites to share! If you include top top 4 from my mood board, that comes to 25rugs!!! To make it easier to compare prices, I’ve tried to keep the rug sizes below around 200x300cm, but check for your size! Oh and I’m not sure if all the Etsy sellers on this list are EU traders so if you’re from Ireland, double check or you will probably be charged customs!

A Few Random Tips..

  • You can check on Etsy if the seller is an EU trader on the bottom right of the screen. Usually that’s where the seller info is, but you can always message them about it!
  • Measure properly before you buy! If it’s for a living room, it looks best to have a rug big enough so that the front feet of the couch are sitting on the rug.
  • Might sound obvious but don’t forget to look through the Etsy shop of a seller if they have over 1,000 5* reviews. When the reviews are that good, you’ll find lots of other rugs you like as well as piece of mind when ordering something so expensive!
  • Rug Vista offers free delivery and free postage for returns – so handy!
  • Rugs.ie offer a price match with an extra 10euro off! I was able to get quite a good discount because of this as I had found my one cheaper on Caseys!

I’m loving looking at all the other updates from everyone else doing the One Room Challenge – though it’s reminding me how far behind I already am!! 🤣 You can look back here on Week 1 and Week 2 if you want to find out more about our living room makeover!
