6 OF MY FAVOURITE BLOGS TO GET YOU INSPIRED

Seeing as how we all have a bit of extra time on our hands at the minute, I’m giving you 6 reasons to ditch Netflix for a while and get inspired! The best bit is that there’s a great mixture of blogs here based on DIY, interior design, podcasts and webisodes. Something for everyone! They’re in no particular order – though between you and me, I’m borderline addicted to Chris Loves Julia!!

1. Young House Love

A white duplex with mint green shutters and a large porch.

These two have been blogging forever! Their website is chockablock with DIY tutorials and renovating ideas. Over the last few years, John and Sherry have renovated four beautiful, old houses and have just recently sold them all to move to the beach in Florida. And of course, they will be renovating that beautiful old house too! They have a weekly podcast which is a great listen…I especially love their ‘I’m Digging’ section, having bought one or two of their suggestions myself!

2.Mad about the House

Kate is a hugely successful, interiors journalist, living in the UK. Her website has a wealth of design tips and tricks. I love the Househunter section, where she finds amazing houses on sale and analyses them room-by-room. She has written two books, one of which I featured in my last gift guide. Both books are great resources for anyone with an interest in home decor. Lastly, she has teamed up Sophie Robinson and together they have created my favourite podcast! It’s full of great interviews, loads of tip and lots of laughs!

3.Dear Designer

A living room with white walls, logs piled, white armchairs and a dark floral rug.

This was a recent find for me and already I’m hooked. This is the blog for you if want to get inspired. It’s jammed with gorgeous pictures of rooms and houses all over the world. Many of which actually seem doable in your house…always a plus! There’s a section on Carole’s own house too and her garden is a fav for me!

4. Studio McGee

Modern cabin living room with a large fireplace, logs piles, a grey coffee table with seating all around.

If you haven’t heard of Shea McGee you’ve been living under a rock! Her instagram has over 1million followers and she deserves every single one. She’s an interior designer and her style is beautiful. She recently completed designing her own house and it’s stunning…who would have thought of copper gutters on the exterior of a house???!!! She has a wonderful blog but it’s the webisodes I’m partial to. They’re like mini YouTube episodes showcasing a finished area in a house. Her newest one was out yesterday, all about her own kitchen and let’s just say these ten minutes episodes just aren’t long enough!!

5.Style So Simple

A restaurant with dark leather benches and blue velvet chairs. Tables have marble tops.

A fellow Irish blogger, Aoife is also a great interior designer. Here you can read about design trends and the all important Design Talks. This is when she speaks to other interior designers and influencers to get their take on lots of different interior issues. Check out her home too, you would never think it’s a rented apartment!

6.Chris Loves Julia

A white bedroom with a wooden canopy bed, a pale peach patterned rug, large clay lampshades and a stone fireplace.

Where do I start? It’s my number one blog, no question. They post almost daily so the website is just a huge resource of everything from DIY’s to home decor. Enjoying their blog so much was the reason I started Our Home Obsession! Chris and Julia have renovated several houses and each time they get better and better. Having moved into their current house last summer, the changes they’ve already made are astonishing. Check them out, trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Hopefully diving into these blogs will help keep your mind occupied on something other than the craziness going on outside. Spend some time getting inspired and excited for your own home. Haven’t we realised now more than ever how important it is to love where you live!
