THE HOMEBODY CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE 2019

We all know someone who, like me, is obsessed with their house! Maybe they are interested in interiors or maybe they’ve just moved in. Either way, you’ll find ten great ideas for the perfect Christmas gift right here! Some of these I already own. Some of these I’ll be buying as gifts myself this year. So you know they’re going to be good!!

Coffee table book

  1. Every homebody needs a good coffee table book and Mad About the House has everything! Kate Watson-Smyth is a hugely popular interior journalist and podcaster and you absolutely can judge this book by it’s cover – it’s fabulous!

Record player

  1. Record players are just the business!! Trevor bought one recently and to be honest I was a bit hesitant. The phrase ‘where are we going to put that?’ sprung to mind! But I have to say, I love it!!!! Though we haven’t noticed much in the actual sound quality, there’s a special atmosphere around the place when it’s used. This retro looking one is great value!

Basket storage

  1. Extra storage is always a good thing. This little basket would be handy for towels and throws. I’ve seen people cut out holes in the back to cover electronics and wires in the living room. My favourite would be as a plant holder. Whatever they’d use it for, this one is a cutie!

Alexa

  1. If they don’t have an Amazon Alexa now is the time! We were given one as a housewarming gift and we love it!! It’s so handy to walk in the door, say hello to Alexa and she can start playing the music I want straight away. If this one is a little out of your budget, the Alexa Echo Dot is almost half the price. It’s pretty much the exact same as the full Alexa, but the sound wouldn’t be as good. Amazon normally does great a Black Friday sale for this!

Glassware

  1. Who wouldn’t want these beautiful gin glasses??! These blush pink ones are so pretty you could keep them out on a shelf when you’re not sipping away! You could create a little Christmas gift hamper by adding a nice bottle of gin (Boyle’s Irish Gin is high quality and great value) some gin infusers and nice tonics. I’d recommend the Fever Tree brand!

Bath rack

  1. The Ikea bath rack is the perfect gift for bath lover in your life. It’s made of bamboo, making it really hard wearing in wet rooms. Plus, it’s so affordable! You could also wrap up a bath bomb and a little candle to go along with it, making it such a thoughtful gift!

Smart plugs and bulbs

  1. If you know they already have Alexa than this is the best Christmas gift ever!! I prefer to get the smart plugs as you have more options, but if you know they would love the smart bulbs, this is the perfect starter pack. We use these mainly for all of our lamps. We can turn them off and on when we’re not at home to deter burglars. I can say ‘Goodnight’ to Alexa and she turns off our lights downstairs and turns on our bedroom lamps. It makes the bedroom feel so cosy when you walk in! Endless options for this one and again, check the Black Friday sales for a good deal!

Flower subscription

  1. A subscription for flowers?! It’s the gift that keeps on giving! How amazing would it be to receive a bunch of gorgeous flowers in the middle of January to perk you up?! You can sign up for weekly, fortnightly or monthly subscription. Prices vary between €20 weekly and €24 monthly. There is a two bouquet minimum before you can cancel your subscription, which seems very reasonable!

Leather tray

  1. We have a leather tray very similar to this one and it comes in so handy. On a bedside table, for keys in the hall, layering on shelves…it corrals all those little objects together and makes the place so much neater. Plus, the leather will suit the colour scheme of anyone’s house!

Blanket

  1. This brand of blanket is my absolute favourite!!!!! I’m not the biggest fan of the slightly ‘hairy’ wool blankets. I never find them nice to cuddle up with, even if it’s from a superior quality brand. However, this Euromant blanket is so soft and warm, you’ll want to keep it for yourself! There’s about a dozen different designs here, so you’ll definitely find one to suit!
