Compromise. Sometimes you just gotta do it! For us, a while back, it was for our kitchen island stools. Trevor really wanted swivel stools and I can see why. But almost all swivel stool have that single leg and that was not a look I was going for! We both also wanted the stool to be really comfortable, which meant it needed to have a back. Initially I wanted leather stools, but I think it would have been too much with the leather couch. So, I went on the search for a gorgeous fabric barstool, on legs, with a back, that swivels. Oh, and I wouldn’t mind if they weren’t too much more than €100! No easy task guys!!
But you can see above that my usual overthinking and over-researching paid off!! I came across Atlantic Shopping, which had a huge selection of kitchen stools, with very reasonable prices! I bought three of the Tide stools in beige, which is a great warm, neutral colour. I’m actually delighted with them! Tip: I sprayed them with some Scothguard fabric protector as it’s a busy kitchen!
Barstool vs Counterstool
Do you know the difference?? If you don’t, it’s time to read on carefully because this could seriously affect your comfort level. The difference is in height. The seat of a barstool is usually about 80cm from the ground. This is actually too high for your average kitchen countertop. Meaning, if you buy a barstool, chances are you can’t sit and pull in your stool at the island. I had envisioned myself fabulously drinking vino, legs crossed, with my elbows comfortably on the countertop (as Trevor cooked! 🙂 ) Not an option with a bar stool.
So I searched for a counter height kitchen stool and double-checked to make sure the seat height was between 62-72cm.
While on the hunt, I came across so many great kitchen stools. So, I’ve gathered a few for you here…I’m slightly jealous of all you less swivel obsessed people…so many options!!
